POINTS OF INTEREST

Praça de Touros de Campo Pequeno

Built in 1892, Lisbon's circular, redbrick, Moorish-style bullring is an eye-opening site. Encompassing esplanades and an underground mall, the ring holds about 9,000 people who crowd in to watch Portuguese-style bullfights (in which the bull is never killed in the ring), in season (April–October). The arena is also used as a venue for concerts and other events. Tickets for all are sold from a booth in the new shopping mall under the building, which is open daily from 10 am to 11 pm. (On show nights only, the little ticket windows on either side of the bullring's main gate are also open.)
