Inaugural Season – The Best of the Norwegian Fjords

Be among the first to sail aboard Le Jacques-Cartier, one of the latest additions to the PONANT fleet, and celebrate its inaugural season during a 9-day cruise into the very heart of Scandinavia, to discover exceptional landscapes and extremely rich cultural heritage.

Your voyage will begin in Bergen, famous for its Hanseatic wharf which still carries a few traces of the rich historic past of the city founded by the Vikings.

You will then visit Alesund, a historic town entirely built in Art nouveau style located near the Geiranger fjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

From the small and charming village of Olden, located a few kilometres from Jostedalsbreen National Park, which is home to one of the last ice caps in Europe, you will be able to admire the wonderful Briksdal glacier.

Le Jacques Cartier will then call at Flam, one of Norway's most spectacular natural sites, then guests will make their way, either by ship or via a scenic train ride, to the municipality of Vik i Sogn, located on the southern shore of Sognefjorden. Penetrating into large mountainous massifs, this magnificent fjord, the longest in Norway, has breathtaking landscapes.

In Stavanger, a small town with harmonious blend of old and modern styles, you will admire the wonderfully preserved fishermen's houses that date from the 18th century.

You will have the privilege of sailing in the famous "Lysefjord" (light fjord), flanked by granite cliffs, before reaching Bergen, the last port of call on this cruise to Northern Europe.
