A Week In... Venice, Florence & Rome

A Week In… Venice, Florence & Rome

All roads lead to Rome… They wind toward the Eternal City from Venice, labyrinthine city of art, romance, and palazzo-lined waterways… or to Florence, hip center of fashion, finance and culture, where Gucci, da Vinci, the Renaissance, and gold currency were born… They are the backroads that embark on a sojourn through the vineyards of Tuscany, sampling wine and local cuisine… They arrive at the hub of the Ancient World, in the heart of the modern metropolis, to discover the glories of Rome… And in today’s modern Italy, the roads are joined by high-speed rail that closes the distance and makes the most of your time… a journey of timeless pleasures…

Traveling by high speed train from Venice to Florence and Rome reveals Italy’s history in just one week… etched into art in famed museums… poured in Tuscan wines aged in a 4th-century abbey cellar… sculpted in timeless antiquities and architectural masterpieces… and frescoed with astonishing splendor in Vatican City. Take a walking tour of Venice with a local guide. Attend a wine-pairing lunch, with a taste of locally produced olive oil and cellar-aged Sangiovese wines. And explore these three cities in-depth and in detail, immersing in their incomparable history, intricate architecture, and irresistible cultural charm.

Day 1 Roads? Where you're going you don't need roads... but don't rule out a romantic gondola ride or a water taxi. Welcome to Venice, with its network of canals, rich history and composition of over 100 small islands in the Adriatic Sea.

One of the most popular features of this Northern Italy capital is the Grand Canal, once a major center of the Renaissance. Be sure to see the central square Piazza San Marco, where all can marvel at Byzantine mosaics, the Campanile bell and St. Mark’s Basilica.

Fine art, stunning architecture, white limestone bridges, moving about via watercraft... Venice is a singular experience and an astonishing masterpiece of civilization. Summer is the busiest time to visit, so plan accordingly. If you're looking for an unforgettable costume party, visit during Venice Carnival from the end of February to the beginning of March.
