Bajan Paradise
Setting out from the cruise pier area, you will journey to sightsee the east coast of Barbados. As your driver guide tells you about his beautiful island, you will travel to some of its best-known scenic sites.
On this Barbados excursion you will stop for photos at Cherry Tree Hill where you will have a panoramic view of the highlands of the Scotland District; Morgan Lewis Windmill, the last sugar windmill to operate on Barbados, for a photo stop; Cattle Wash, known for its curative climate; Bathsheba, with its gigantic boulders and waves breaking upon them; and St. John’s Parish Church, where you will enjoy a wonderful view of the entire East Coast. From this famous gothic church, you will then pass through the Gun Hill signal station, where you will see the famous White Lion coral stone carving. You will continue on your journey through the beautiful parish of St. George!
After a morning of tropical beauty, you’ll make your way across country, traveling through the Garrison Historic Area, built in 1806, and on to a local beach bar located on Carlisle Bay. With white sand and turquoise water, this beach is a real slice of paradise. At this beach bar, you will be provided with a welcome drink, a beach chair, and an umbrella. The facility also has washrooms and showers available for your use. Although lunch is not included, there is a restaurant and bar to serve you on and off the beach.
Carlisle Bay is a marine park with 25 shipwrecks hidden below its surface. You will have approximately 2 hours at the beach to sun, swim, look for sand dollars, or perhaps participate in one of the snorkel excursions to swim with the turtles or alongside one of the shipwrecks. Snorkel excursions can be purchased right on the beach. There are also jet skis and banana boat rides available for hire. While you are relaxing on the beach, a refreshing drink will be served.
On the way back to the port, you will pass through the capital of the island, Bridgetown. Those not wishing to have beach time may also be returned to the ship.
