Become A Soldier At The Halifax Citadel

Become a Soldier at the Halifax Citadel

This engaging and immersive tour introduces you to the life of a British soldier in this one-of-a-kind experience marrying adventure with historical authenticity, all at an easily accessible site from the Halifax cruise port.

The excitement begins with an authentic enlistment process where you’ll sign reproduction papers before being kitted out in an iconic madder red doublet and a Mackenzie tartan kilt, contributing to an unforgettable experience. Under the guidance of your drill instructor, dive into the basics of foot and arms drills followed by the thrilling opportunity to fire an original Snider-Enfield rifle.

The tour doesn’t stop there! As an optional bonus, tap into your musical side and learn to play duty and battlefield calls on a rope tension snare drum. This excursion invites you to explore the Citadel’s expansive ramparts, including lesser known areas that you might miss if you were to visit the Citadel on your own. See intriguing casemates used to protect soldiers when firing, and see the mysterious tunnels for a genuine taste of the soldier’s life.

To round off the day’s activities, you’ll be treated to complimentary refreshments in the Citadel’s beautifully restored soldiers’ library, a perfect end to a day of historical discovery. Be sure to snap photos of the sweeping city views before you leave. Discover the rich history of Halifax, feel the vibrancy of its past, and follow in the footsteps of a British soldier on this unique tour that combines adventure with historical authenticity. Don’t wait – reserve your spot today!
