Spend the day at the edge of the world with this exciting tour of one of the most rugged and least populated areas in Chile.

Your adventure begins as you take a seat in the car and head to Coyhaique, the capital of the Aysen region and a gateway to Patagonia. Along the way you will cross the longest rope bridge in Chile, visit a magical ghost lagoon and see the Rio Simpson, a famous river that is a favorite with the fly fishers.

Soak in the scenery as you pass by verdant plains, huge mountains, and cascading waterfalls. Coyhaique (coy-I-kay) is the capital of Chile’s 11th region and its commercial center. It is one of the few cities in Chile which receives regular icefall and snowfall during the fall and winter. Once in Coyhaique, enjoy a piece of rich, flaky Streuselkuchen and a cup of hot, homemade coffee as you learn about the German community and see its influence on the city’s architecture, food, and culture. Continue on to some of the city’s favelas, or shantytowns, to witness some of the challenges the residents face here.

Conclude your tour back to port with a stop at the Virgin waterfall, the largest one in the area and so named due to the semblance of a crown and veil formed as the water rushes over the rocks.

On your journey, you will be transported to one of the most remote and isolated regions in the world. Learn about the differences in infrastructure between this and other ports you may visit, view life as a local, and enjoy the adventure that awaits as you explore the rugged terrain of one of the most beautiful locations in Chile. Make sure to take a rain jacket with you as the weather in Aysen can be quite unpredictable! This popular tour fills up fast – reserve your spot today and get ready for a unique trip that you will remember for years to come.

Day 1 The Chilean Archipelago is a spectacularly beautiful wilderness region very much like Alaska's Inside Passage - but with its own unique collection of fascinating flora and fauna. Mist-shrouded islands, deeply-cleft fjords, hanging glaciers and the snow-covered peaks of the Andes create a magnificent setting for hundreds of bird species including black-necked swans, flightless steamer ducks and Andean condors. Not far from Puerto Chacabuco is Coihaique, capital of the Aisen Province. In a thrilling drive through the Reserva Nacional Rio Simpson, watch cascading waterfalls tumble over steep canyon walls.
