Half Day Moorea Sightseeing Island Drive
Your adventure begins at the pier where you’ll board a comfortable, air-conditioned motorcoach and travel towards the majestic Mt. Rotui. Ascend to the Belvedere Lookout, where you’ll be greeted with panoramic views of Moorea’s rugged mountains, the serene waters of Cook’s Bay, and Opunohu Bay. The vistas from here are simply stunning, providing perfect photo opportunities.
Next, you’ll make a brief stop at an ancient marae, a stone temple that has stood the test of time thanks to its intricate construction. The stones are expertly stacked without the use of any adhesive, a testament to the ingenuity of the island’s early inhabitants. Continue your journey to the Kia Ora lookout for more spectacular island and lagoon views.
As you drive through Moorea’s verdant landscape, you’ll pass lush coffee plantations and vibrant pineapple fields. A stop at a local pineapple plantation in Paopao Valley offers a scenic view of the peak of Bali Hai, famously depicted in the musical “South Pacific.”
Your tour also takes you to Papetoai to visit the island’s oldest church. Built in 1822, this Protestant church is unique in its octagonal shape, constructed from the original stones of a Tahitian marae. This site is not only a place of worship but also the oldest European structure still in use in the South Pacific.
The return journey takes you along a scenic route through Haapiti, Moorea’s commercial center, and Afareaitu, the largest village on the island. Before heading back to the pier, you’ll have the opportunity to visit one of the local pearl stores, where you can shop for authentic Polynesian pearls.
Join us for an immersive experience that combines the best of Mo’orea’s natural wonders and cultural landmarks. Whether you’re capturing the perfect photo, exploring historical sites, or shopping for pearls, this tour offers a memorable way to experience the beauty and tradition of French Polynesia.

Moorea, the heart-shaped island of French Polynesia, is a paradise that captivates the senses with its striking natural beauty and vibrant culture. Just a short ferry ride from Tahiti, Moorea offers a breathtaking landscape of jagged volcanic peaks, lush valleys, and pristine lagoons. The island’s iconic views are best experienced from the Belvedere Lookout, where visitors can marvel at the panoramic vistas of Opunohu and Cook’s Bays, two deep blue bays framed by towering green mountains. This vantage point is a must-see, providing an unforgettable introduction to the island’s dramatic scenery. Moorea is also a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering a variety of activities that showcase the island’s diverse ecosystems. Snorkeling in the crystal-clear waters of the lagoon reveals a vibrant underwater world teeming with colorful coral reefs and exotic marine life, including rays and reef sharks. For a more immersive experience, take a kayak tour to explore the secluded beaches and hidden coves that dot the coastline. On land, the island’s numerous hiking trails lead through tropical forests to ancient marae (temples), where visitors can learn about the rich Polynesian culture and history that permeates the island. Cultural experiences on Moorea are equally enchanting. The island is home to a number of traditional Polynesian villages where visitors can experience local customs, crafts, and dance. The Tiki Village Cultural Center offers an immersive journey into the world of ancient Polynesia, with traditional tattooing, weaving, and carving demonstrations, as well as captivating performances of Polynesian dance and music. Don’t miss the chance to try some of the island’s local delicacies, such as poisson cru (raw fish marinated in coconut milk and lime), which can be enjoyed at beachfront restaurants while watching the sun set over the Pacific. |
