Tallinn Highlights

Historical Tallinn has a bevy of magnificent Tallinn landmarks. You’ll begin this tour by coach visiting Old Town, seeing the Stout Margaret Tower, St. Brigit’s Monastery, and the Church of the Holy Ghost prior to visiting Alexander Nevsky Orthodox Cathedral and the Parliament building (Castle) in Upper Town. Travelers interested in historical landmarks and unique alcohol tastings will enjoy this Tallinn tour.

A two mile long wall from the 13th Century is still surrounding the Old Town of Tallinn. It is listed in UNESCO as the best preserved old town in Northern Europe. Since the 18th century, Tallinn produced and distributed spirits.

Your learned guide will share Tallinn’s landmarks. First, you’ll see Stout Margaret Towers, which are large, round structures that guarded the main entrance of Old Town during the 16th century. Today, you can buy coffee from the cafe to the left of the gate.

Next, you’ll visit St. Brigit’s Monastery. This 15th-century covenant is special in for its ruins that once housed monks and nuns.

Afterward, board the coach to begin the walking portion of your tour. The Old Town consists of two parts, the Lower and Upper Town. Visit Toompea Castle, the grand structure housing Estonia’s Parliament, and the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the largest and most grand Orthodox cathedral in Tallinn. Just down the road is the oldest pharmacy in the world.

Thereafter, enjoy free time to stroll the area before returning to the pier. Transfers back to port right after the tour is included. Those who wish to stay in the main square longer, will be instructed by guides on how to get back to port. Reserve this festive outing to see some remarkable sights.

Please Note: The tour ends in central Tallinn, to give you the opportunity to explore or shop at your leisure after the tour. It is about a 15 minute walk, or a 5 minute taxi ride (not included, approximately 15 EUR), from the cruise pier.
