Day 1 Kinosaki Onsen is a resort area best known for its hot springs (onsen) as well as its charming, nostalgic atmosphere: guests of the local ryokans (traditional Japanese inns) stroll between the seven public onsen wearing yukata (literally translated as "bathing cloth," a casual version of the kimono) and geta (wooden sandals). Other attractions of this quaint town include a temple appropriately named Onsenji, views from Mt Taishi accessed by a ropeway at the end of the main street, two museums, and numerous cafes serving local specialties such as snow crab, Tajima beef and onsen-boiled eggs.
