Mendenhall Lake Canoe Adventure

Mendenhall Lake Canoe Adventure Day Tour in Juneau

Southeast Alaska has marvelous historic origins. The Tlingit Indians, the region’s first people, would traverse the waters in hand-carved canoes, enjoying an intimate experience with the surrounding natural wonders. During this Mendenhall lake canoe adventure, you can re-enact the experience aboard a canoe, venturing within yards of the majestic Mendenhall Glacier.

Your Juneau excursion begins with a scenic ride to beautiful Mendenhall Lake. Board your authentic Alaskan native-style canoe, which holds up to 19 passengers, and begin your unforgettable Alaska adventure. Small-sized groups allow for an intimate family experience. A limited U.S. Forest Service permit grants you the ability to experience one of Alaska’s most notable natural wonders up close.

Paddle across Mendenhall Lake’s serene waters, navigating past floating icebergs, admiring spectacular glacier views, and towering peaks. Your expert tour guide shares the natural history and Native lore as you travel across the gorgeous waters. Keep an eye out for wildlife such as arctic terns, eagles, goats, salmon, otters, bears, and more. The best part of this scenic tour is when you venture within a safe distance of the massive, breathtaking face of the Mendenhall Glacier. Experience the thrill of skirting the base of the roaring Nugget Falls afterward. A delicious snack is served on the beach at Nugget falls which gives you a great opportunity to refuel for your return paddle across the lake.

Book this Juneau shore excursion for an awe-inspiring adventure across Mendenhall Lake aboard a traditional canoe. The Mendenhall Glacier is ready to impress!
