Day 1 Located in southwestern Washington state, Vancouver is a port at the head of deepwater navigation on the Columbia River, opposite Portland, OR. Vancouver is a commercial, manufacturing and shipping center.
Day 2 Astoria, Oregon is the state's oldest city. Located on the Columbia River near the Pacific Ocean, Astoria is rich in history, including fishing, canning and the Lewis and Clark Expedition. With its scenic views and landscape, it has been called "little San Francisco."

The city's architecture tells its own story, with many well-preserved buildings from its 19th-century past. The Astoria Column, an iconic 125-foot-tall tower, offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and is adorned with a mural depicting scenes from the region's history. Climbing the 164 steps to the top provides an unforgettable view of the city, the Columbia River, and even the Pacific Ocean on clear days.

For outdoor enthusiasts, Astoria serves as a gateway to diverse natural attractions. The Fort Stevens State Park offers miles of hiking and biking trails, a historic military fort, and access to expansive beaches perfect for a day of exploration or relaxation. The nearby Youngs River Falls provide a scenic and tranquil setting for a short hike to a picturesque waterfall.

A fun fact about Astoria is that it served as the filming location for the beloved 1985 film The Goonies, which has become a cultural touchstone for fans worldwide. The town celebrates its connection to the film with events and tours that appeal to movie buffs and families alike. Visit Astoria in the spring or summer to experience its festivals, mild weather, and vibrant community events, making it an ideal time to explore both its historical and natural attractions.

Day 3 "At Sea" typically refers to the vast and diverse marine environments that span our planet, rather than a specific city or destination. However, exploring the concept of being "at sea" can lead to a variety of fascinating experiences and attractions related to maritime adventures and oceanic wonders.

One of the most enticing ways to experience "at sea" is through a luxury cruise. Cruises offer a unique opportunity to explore various destinations while enjoying the comforts and amenities of a floating resort. Modern cruise ships provide a blend of relaxation and adventure with activities ranging from fine dining and Broadway-style shows to excursions exploring tropical islands or historical coastal cities.

For those interested in marine life, exploring the world's oceans through scuba diving or snorkeling can be an unforgettable experience. Locations such as the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and the coral reefs of Belize offer stunning underwater vistas and an opportunity to observe diverse marine species in their natural habitats. National Geographic provides insights into the best diving spots and conservation efforts that protect these underwater treasures.
Day 4

San Francisco, often referred to as the "City by the Bay," is a destination like no other. Its iconic landmarks, vibrant neighborhoods, and rich history make it a must-visit for travelers from around the world. Towering above the city, the Golden Gate Bridge is an architectural marvel and offers breathtaking views of the bay, especially during sunrise or when the infamous fog rolls in. Visitors can walk or bike across the bridge for the full experience.

The city's diverse neighborhoods provide endless opportunities to explore. From the bustling streets of Chinatown, the largest of its kind outside of Asia and the oldest in North America, to the artistic Mission District, each area has its own unique charm. The colorful Victorian homes known as the "Painted Ladies," famously featured in movies and television, add to San Francisco’s character. And no trip would be complete without a ride on its historic cable cars, a delightful way to traverse the city's famously steep hills.

Alcatraz Island offers a glimpse into the past. This former federal prison, located on a small island in the bay, housed some of America’s most infamous criminals. Visitors can take a ferry ride to the island and embark on a guided tour of its eerie halls. Nearby, Fisherman’s Wharf and Pier 39 offer waterfront views, sea lion sightings, and a taste of the city’s famous foods, including clam chowder served in sourdough bread bowls.

San Francisco’s natural beauty also shines through its many parks and scenic spots. Golden Gate Park, larger than New York’s Central Park, is home to serene gardens, walking trails, and even bison paddocks. For a sweeping view of the city and the bay, head to Twin Peaks, a pair of hills rising nearly 1,000 feet above the streets below. On clear days, the view is spectacular.
