Paint Your Own Venetian Mask

Paint Your Own Venetian Mask

During this small group experience you will participate in the centuries-old tradition of Venetian mask making. Masks have been worn in Italy since antiquity to protect the wearer’s identity during business or promiscuous activities and, later, reemerged as the symbol of Carnevale, an annual hedonistic street fair and pageant. This fun, interactive and hands-on activity will also give you insight and knowledge into how the masks actually helped keep citizens on an equal playing field, as no faces meant everyone had a voice, and could use it without fear of reprisals.

In this workshop your local, skilled mask artisan will guide you step by step to bring your papier mache mask to life through the use of colorful acrylic paint and the addition of feathers, ribbons and sequins. Finish your unique piece with gold or silver paint, the perfect touch to connect you to the history and mystery of the masks and revelers gone by.

Sign up for this fun mask workshop now and bring out your inner Venetian with a mask you can wear with pride or display on your wall for years to come. This small group class will sell out fast, don’t miss your spot!
