Papal Audience

Be a Part of the Papal Audience in Rome

Visit Vatican City and be a part of the Papal Audience at St. Peter’s Square, St. Peter’s Basilica, or the Audience Hall on this Rome cruise excursion. Enjoy the scenic drive to the event and see some of the highlights of Rome.

Drive by the Piazza della Repubblica, featuring the majestic Fountain of the Nayads. Built in the 1800s, this giant fountain once featured lion sculptures, but those were replaced in 1901 by the Nayad of the Rivers, Oceans, Lakes, and Underground Waters. Continue to the Piazza Barberini, which holds the Tritone Fountain by Bernini. Drive along the Via Veneto to the Aurelian Walls, which are the former walls of the city of Rome. Your tour moves to Villa Borghese park and to the Piazza del Popolo. There you’ll see the Egyptian Obelisk, which was brought to Rome in 10BC, as well as the giant Castel St. Angelo, known as the tomb of Hadrian.

Arrive at the Vatican and be a part of the Papal Audience, which is truly a once in a lifetime experience. You’ll have seen the sights of Rome, but nothing will compare with time spent in the presence of the Pope. Please remember that a strict dress code is enforced; knees and shoulders must be covered, and men must wear long pants.

Please Note: Tour pickup times begin approximately one hour PRIOR to the tour departure time listed. Pickups are only from hotels within the vicinity of Rome’s city centre, within the Aurelian Walls. This includes hotels situated near the main railway, Termini Station, Via Veneto, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and Vatican area. If your hotel is outside the Aurelian Walls, please enter “Tour Office” as your pick up location. This tour does not provide custom hotel drop-off. Full details will be outlined in your electronic ticket. This tour takes place in Rome. Guests on ships docking in Civitavecchia will need to make their own way to Rome from Civitavecchia (approximately 50 miles away) at their own expense. There is train service from nearby train stations, and the average trip takes approximately 90 minutes each way. Your cruise ship may offer a shuttle to a nearby station.

Day 1 Often called the Eternal City, Rome stands alone as Italy's most visited destination. The third most populated city in the European Union, Rome boasts ancient sites, yet has a modern flair — an exhilarating mix of the Old World and the new.

Rome's must-see attractions include the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and St. Peter's Basilica. Of course, within the city limits of Rome lies an independent country: Vatican City, the Roman Catholic Church headquarters and the only current example of a country inside a city.

With its Renaissance architecture, ancient ruins, and works by Michelangelo, Rome is a vibrant destination offering spectacular examples of human achievement. Visitors wandering through this glorious city have so much to discover!
