A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Palace of Caserta was the largest palace built in Europe in the 18th Century. Known as the Italian Versailles, the 1200-room palace was built for Charles VII of Naples and is a gilded, Baroque glimpse of the grandeur of Italian royalty of yore.
The expansive Palace grounds feature dancing fountains, waterfalls, and English gardens, which all lead to the Grand Cascade, an 82-meter high waterfall that features a stunning aqueduct feeding the falls. The magnificent exterior and sprawling gardens of the Palace give way to an interior that features baroque architecture including marble floors, grand staircases, and stunning frescos, stuccoes, reliefs, and sculptures.
After you have explored the Palace and purchased lunch for yourself, it’s on to La Reggia Outlet in Marcianise. Hundreds of brands are available in this shopper’s paradise, from sportswear like Vans, Timberland, Nike, and Lacoste, to luxury Italian brands like Prada, Gucci, Armani, Bulgari, and Dolce & Gabbana.
Along with scores of fashionable finds, there is a children’s adventure playground, hairstylists, luscious gelaterias and cafes, and other culinary delights and pleasing distractions. You can even contract a personal shopper and get your clothing tailored on-site.
Once you have finished your shopping spree, the driver will return you to Naples.
