The location made it ideal to become a cargo port, and in fact, it was once one of the most important seaports in the country.

Once back in town your guide will provide a narrated tour around Puntarenas and you will leisurely walk through the famous Paseo de Los Turistas, a boulevard that stretches along the beach near where the cruise ships dock.
