Private Dunn's River Falls And Area Highlights
Private Dunn’s River Falls and Area Highlights
Take this private Dunn’s River Falls and Ocho Rios Highlights Tour and two things are for sure: you’ll escape the mob scenes, and you’ll have the absolute time of your life!
This private tour departs from Falmouth, and drives approximately 45 minutes east to Dunn’s River Falls, roughly 600 feet above sea level, with beautiful, crystal-clear water running down the mountain into the ocean.
It takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes to climb all the way up the mountain. There are places along the way to slide down into pools of water, take a swim and climb again. For those who wish to stop climbing, there are multiple points where you can leave the falls and walk on the adjacent path. There are local “guides” at the falls who will lead you up. These guides are separate from your tour and will expect a gratuity when you reach the top.
Next, you will depart for your tour of the highlights around Ocho Rios, which includes a drive through Fern Gully. Once a river bed, Fern Gully is now a rainforest known for its incredible biodiversity, and is home to many different species of ferns, which you will see on both sides of the roadway. Your first stop will be Shaw Park Lookout. From this location, you can see across the lush 25 acres of tropical foliage in the garden (the garden itself is not visited on this excursion) to the town of Ocho Rios, with the incredible Caribbean in the distance. You will also have an up-close look at a Banyan Tree that is over 200 years old.
You will then drive to the village of Spice Mountain, where you will observe how some of the locals live. Your driver will stop at a spice shack where you can purchase some of the local spices. After this stop, you will then drive back to Falmouth along the coast road to reach your ship.
Please Note: Although there are changing facilities at the falls, we suggest wearing your swimming suit under comfortable clothing. Water shoes can be rented at the falls if you do not have sneakers or your own water shoes. Flip flops/sandals are not recommended. Climbing the falls is not recommended to guests with back or hip/knee concerns.

To see the falls, guests must climb down several flights of stairs to reach the first viewing area. Climbing the falls requires climbing from rock to rock against the water. As Jamaica is a mountainous island, several stops may be on inclined surfaces. Not recommended for guests with any mobility issues.
