Private Essential Stockholm
Private Essential Stockholm
This combination tour offers you three very different perspectives of this magical medieval city. Your private expedition begins as you board a bus for a scenic ride around the city center with stops at the Old and New Parliament buildings. See City Hall, a massive structure famous for its art, ceremonial halls and breathtaking overviews of Stockholm from atop its 106-meter tower.
From there you will transition to the walking part of the tour where your guide will help you navigate the cobbled streets and winding alleyways of Gamla Stan, or Old Town, while sharing fascinating facts and stories of the city and its people along the way. Stop at the Royal Palace, the official residence of the Swedish Monarch. This expansive building contains 1,430 rooms, more than 600 windows, and has a ceremonial changing of the guards. Nearby is St. Nicolas Cathedral, a beautiful Gothic-style church that has hosted several coronations, royal weddings, and funerals. You will also tour Riddarholmen, also known as Knight’s Island, where you can admire 17th-century private palaces. While here pay respects at Riddarholmskyrkan, a former church with burial grounds containing the remains of Swedish royalty and nobility.
Your outing transfers to the water as you board a boat for a leisurely ride along Strandvagen, a street full of high-end boutique shops and tony apartments in the exclusive neighborhood of Ostermalm. Observe a different side of Stockholm from the shore and gain a new appreciation of how distinctive the districts are. Conclude your tour at Djurgarden where you can take a break for lunch or use your free time to visit one of the island’s many museums including the children’s museum, the Nordic people museum or Absolut Vodka’s museum (without a guide).
You can extend your tour with a visit to Vasa Museum-the most popular museum in Stockholm. At the Vasa you can learn the maritime history and see a salvaged 17th-century ship designed by the King himself. This popular tour sells out fast! Sign up today.

As a city located in a Baltic Sea archipelago, it's not surprising that Stockholm has 50 bridges and sightseeing boats moving people between its 14 islands. This contemporary and welcoming capital of Sweden is nonetheless easily navigable by foot. Every district here has a distinct flavor, from the sophisticated Östermalm to the bustling downtown energy of Norrmalm to the delightful Old Town.
Attractions in Stockholm include the maritime wonders of the Vasa Museum, the grandiose Royal Palace, the waterside Stockholm City Hall, and the Nobel Museum, where Nobel prizewinners are celebrated. And hey music fans, there's even an ABBA museum! |
