Rainforest Canoe And Nature Trail From Ward Cove

Rainforest Canoe & Nature Trail Excursion from Ward Cove

The adventure begins with a scenic motorcoach tour to a secluded mountain lake. Part of a lush rainforest, the lake is ideal for canoeing, and is surrounded by the Tongass National Forest, the largest National Forest in the United States. Board Native American-style 37-foot, 20-passenger traditional Alaskan canoes, which are fast, stable, and easy to maneuver. Paddle under the direction of an experienced guide, scan the shore for wildlife, and learn the unique natural and native history of the area on this Ward Cove day trip.

Stop ashore for an Alaskan-style snack at a remote camp. Your knowledgeable tour guide will lead a short nature walk, highlighting the flora and fauna of the rainforest in Ketchikan, including a carnivorous plant called the sundew. Paddle back to the canoe dock, and climb aboard the motorcoach that returns to the dock. This Ward Cove shore excursion is a rare opportunity to comfortably explore Southeast Alaska in the manner of its original explorers and early culture.
