Remutaka Rail Trail E-Bike Exploration
With the ease of an eBike, this tour is perfect for bikers of all skill levels craving outdoor exploration and adventure. Our journey begins at the port, at the exact departure time where a shuttle ride brings you to either Maymorn or Kaitoke. The choice is yours: opt for Maymorn for a slightly more challenging 25 to 35-km ride or head to Kaitoke for a relaxed 18 to 28-km journey. Regardless of your choice, expect a breathtaking trail with a gradual incline through lush native bush.
As you pedal on, you will traverse through historic tunnels (with provided headlights) and over scenic bridges while pausing at informative boards showcasing the immense craftsmanship that went into constructing the old fell railway system. The climax of your adventure is reaching the summit – a vast grassy plateau, the perfect spot for picnics or refreshing drinks.
Enjoy a thrilling yet perfectly manageable descent to Cross Creek, as New Zealand’s scenic farmland unfolds before your eyes. A 2-km single-lane track from Cross Creek leads to the parking lot. Here, riders can choose to wait for the shuttle or continue their journey, adding a delightful 10 km towards the charming cafes and pubs at Featherston. An extended afternoon pick-up for the Featherston adventurers ensures you are comfortably transported back to Wellington Port.
Immerse yourself in New Zealand’s picturesque landscapes, historic railway, and vibrant native bush while getting your heart pumping on this unforgettable cycling tour. Riders will enjoy 3-4 hours of cycling, followed by a 1 and a half hour shuttle from Cross Creek or Featherston back to Centreport. Book this exciting excursion now to secure your slot in this quintessential New Zealand experience; you won’t regret it!
