In just over a century of rule, the Bourbons transformed Naples into Europe’s second most populous and wealthiest city, boasting a litany of pioneering achievements. Naples was the vanguard of modernity, with the first running water in homes, pioneering waste separation, and free smallpox vaccinations. Their legacy of a robust welfare state endures, inviting exploration of the city’s royal imprints.
