Newfoundland is Canada’s easternmost province. Surrounded by the North Atlantic Ocean, this island is famed for its dramatic cliffs, colorful fishing villages, and incredible wildlife. Whether you’re exploring coastal towns or hiking along windswept trails, Newfoundland provides both a sense of adventure and tranquility. One of the most iconic spots in Newfoundland is Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This park is home to unique geological formations, such as the Tablelands, where visitors can walk on the Earth’s exposed mantle. The fjords, towering cliffs, and serene lakes in Gros Morne also make it an ideal destination for hiking, boating, and wildlife spotting. Moose, caribou, and bald eagles are just some of the animals that call this park home. St. John’s, the vibrant capital of Newfoundland, is a charming mix of old-world history and modern culture. The city is known for its colorful row houses, often referred to as "Jellybean Row," and lively waterfront. George Street offers one of the liveliest music and pub scenes in Canada. Whale watching is popular in Newfoundland, with opportunities to spot humpbacks, minkes, and even orcas. Puffins nest along its rocky shores and are a delight to see in the wild. Food is another highlight of a visit to Newfoundland. The province’s cuisine draws on its coastal heritage, with dishes like fresh cod, lobster, and moose stew often featured on menus. Don’t miss a chance to try toutons, traditional fried dough served with molasses. |
