Day 1 |
"Custer City can take pride in being the oldest town in the Black Hills. Today's community shows off what more than a hundred years of history and a beautiful Black Hills environment can offer visitors. One of Custer's most appealing features is its setting. The city is studded with picturesque granite outcroppings and flanked on all sides by Ponderosa pines. With a large inventory of motels, campgrounds, restaurants and attractions, Custer makes an ideal base camp for touring in the southern Black Hills. Its mile-high elevation provides cool nights, even after the hottest summer days. All within a 30-minute drive from Custer are Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, Jewel Cave and Wind Cave National Parks, and 73,000 acre Custer State Park." - South Dakota Vacation Guide |
