Day 1 Tunis' white-washed, blue-shuttered buildings hide a treasure trove of Arabic and Ottoman art. Inspect illuminated manuscripts from the Koran, follow the twists and turns of the fascinating old Medina (inner city), marvel at the ornate Palace of Dar Ben Abduallah and the magnificent Djamaa-Ez-Zitouna Mosque, whose 184 columns were "recycled" from the rocky ruins of Carthage. Day 3

Perched on a clifftop overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, Sidi Bou Said is a postcard-perfect village in Tunisia that enchants visitors with its striking white and blue architecture. Known for its iconic Andalusian-style buildings, Sidi Bou Said is a haven for artists, poets, and those seeking tranquility. Strolling through its narrow cobblestone streets, you’ll be greeted by the scent of jasmine and the vibrant colors of bougainvillea cascading from balconies. The village’s laid-back charm is complemented by its sweeping views of the Gulf of Tunis, making it a perfect spot for leisurely exploration and relaxation.

Sidi Bou Said has long been a muse for artists. The village became famous in the early 20th century when French painter Baron Rodolphe d'Erlanger decided to settle here, drawn by its beauty and light. His influence led to the village adopting its distinct blue and white color scheme, creating a cohesive aesthetic that continues to inspire visitors today. D'Erlanger's residence, Ennejma Ezzahra, is now a museum and cultural center that hosts a collection of traditional Tunisian music instruments and offers a glimpse into the artistic spirit that defines the village.

A visit to Sidi Bou Said wouldn’t be complete without experiencing its charming cafés and local flavors. The legendary Café des Délices, perched on the edge of a cliff, offers panoramic views of the azure Mediterranean waters and is perfect for savoring a mint tea or a freshly baked Tunisian pastry. For a more authentic experience, Café des Nattes, with its traditional decor and woven mats, has been a favorite for both locals and visitors for decades. It is an ideal spot to relax, people-watch, and soak in the ambiance of this artistically rich village.

Fun fact: Sidi Bou Said is often called the "Santorini of Tunisia" due to its similar architectural style and breathtaking coastal views. However, it remains distinctly Tunisian, with a cultural and historical depth that is uniquely its own. This idyllic village has been a source of inspiration for renowned artists, including Paul Klee and August Macke, who were captivated by its beauty during their travels to Tunisia in the early 1900s. Whether you're an art enthusiast, a history buff, or simply in search of a beautiful escape, Sidi Bou Said offers an experience that is both serene and inspiring.
