On this trip, you will be touring cities and villages, exploring ancient sites, and visiting beautiful mosques and vibrant bazaars – as well as enjoying the warmth of each country’s people. While none of the walking is particularly difficult, some days you’ll be on your feet for much of the day.

Turkmenistan is a republic in Central Asia. Ashgabat is its capital and largest city. The climate is desert continental, with cold winters and very hot summers. For most of the country, average daily temperature in January ranges from -6° to 5° C (21.2° to 41° F), while in July the average temperature is 27° to 32° C (80.6° to 89.6° F). Turkmenistan's rare animal species include the caracal lynx; the Central Asian cobra; and the desert monitor, a large lizard that can reach a length of 1.6 m (5 ft); and several species of gecko. Among its attractions are the Turkmenia History Museum and the Turkemen Exhibition of Economic Achievements. |
