White Pass Mountaineering Adventure

White Pass Mountaineering Adventure

This mountaineering excursion is recommended for hikers and mountain climbers who crave a challenging adventure in the wilds of Alaska. Your journey begins with a scenic, 40 minute ride into the mountains and up to White Pass, a breathtaking mountain pass bordering Alaska and the Yukon Territory in Canada. Once at the Pass you will gear up and leave the road behind as you head onto the trail and into the remote beauty of Alaska that many visitors do not get to see.

While at the Pass you will cover about 6 miles in length with a gain of up to 3,000 feet in elevation. Your guide will take you on a climb to the summit of Feather Peak or Mount Cleveland, both of which stand at about 5,500 feet with astounding views of the surrounding jagged peaks and wilderness below. Alternatively, there are a series of high points and routes that your guide may choose from depending on route conditions, group ability, and guide choice. Even if the summit isn’t possible for the day, there are still incredible waterfalls and many awe-inspiring views to for you to enjoy.

May and June climbs might require a combination of snow-shoeing and stream crossing; climbs later in the season will likely be snow free, with off-trail hiking through alpine grasses and wildflowers, scrambling on rocks and the occasional stream crossing. Depending on the route and conditions you might use ropes, crampons, ice axes and other technical equipment to reach the summit. Your experienced guides will cheerfully instruct you in basic mountaineering and snowshoeing skills along the way and your safety is always the first priority.

What are you waiting for? Reserve this daylong adventure now for an unparalleled experience in the Alaskan wilderness at White Pass.
