Wwii From Beginning To End

WWII From Beginning to End

A brief history of the surprise attack at the U.S. Naval Base will be given by your guide prior to your arrival for the Pearl Harbor Tour. Upon your arrival at the Arizona Memorial, your guide will deliver you to the National Park Rangers, who will take you on a 23-minute historical tour using real footage of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Next board a Navy shuttle from the theater and be transported to the Arizona Memorial. Visit the Shrine Room at the Arizona Memorial and meditate on the names of the 1,177 men who are buried beneath the sunken battleship. Visit the actual battleship wreckage and the “black tears of the Arizona,” oil that continues to pour from the ship almost 70 years after it sank.

Once you’re back at the Visitors Center, you’ll join your guide and have the opportunity to explore the intriguing museum exhibits and browse the gift shop, which sells books, memorabilia, and souvenirs related to Pearl Harbor. Situated close to the Visitors Center, the USS Bowfin submarine is visible from the grounds and also has a view of Battleship Row. The next site on your itinerary is the USS Missouri, which is situated on Ford Island in Pearl Harbor and is easily visible from this location.

Once you’ve taken the public shuttle, a “Mighty Mo” guide will take you on a 40-minute historical tour to the deck of the USS Missouri, the site of the Japanese surrender in Tokyo Bay and the signing of the peace treaty that ended World War II. View the dent made when a kamikaze plane almost destroyed this well-known warship.

You will see downtown Honolulu with your guide after spending time at these two amazing Pearl Harbor museums. Discover and take in sights including the Punchbowl National Cemetery of the Pacific, King Kamehameha Statue, and Iolani Palace.

Please Note: A photo ID is required to enter Pearl Harbor. A picture ID should be carried on you at all times. We and our partners have no control over Pearl Harbor, the National Park or the Navy shuttle boats at the Arizona Memorial. Please be aware that long lines and delays occur frequently at the National Park, as the Arizona Memorial is operated on a first-come first-served basis each day. We are not able to offer any refunds if guests do not gain entry to the Arizona Memorial, movie, or other sights due to a large number of visitors on a given day or due to a weather shut down by the US Navy or other government agency. We thank you for your understanding. This is not a transfer tour. The tour does not drop off at the airport, and cannot accommodate luggage. We recommend bringing additional funds to supplement your lunch (not included). Your guide will give you more information on dining the day of the tour.

Day 1 Say "Aloha!" to the big city on Oahu's South Shore: Honolulu. This sunny capital city is the main portal to the larger Hawaiian archipelago, and the perfect base for exploring Oahu. Drinking in all the breathtaking scenery is just one part of the Honolulu experience — there's so much more: Waikiki's crescent beach, plus its shopping and dining; the 350-acre volcanic crater Diamond Head (climb to the top for amazing views); and Pearl Harbor National Memorial.

Be sure to take a scenic drive from the South Shore to the North Shore, and experience the Polynesian Cultural Center, the Dole Plantation (think pineapples!), as well as world-class snorkeling, shrimp carts, and shaved ice stands.
