There is a type of establishment on the Island known as a Guachinche. These small, family-run eateries, often improvised on the terrace or in the garage of rural houses, only open at certain times of the year to offer wine from their own harvest accompanied by two or three traditional dishes at very affordable prices. Such establishments have deep roots on the Island, and islanders will be delighted to tell visitors how to find them.

Dining
The local gastronomy is a further example of Tenerife’s authenticity and certainly the most delicious. Dishes made from local produce create a marvellous fusion between traditional and avant-garde. Tenerife's traditional cuisine revolves around the abundant resources of the sea, with an emphasis on fish and seafood. What is more, the island's culinary heritage is inspired by South American countries, such as Venezuela and the Caribbean. The island's gastronomy is characterized by its simplicity, prioritizing locally-sourced products like fish, potatoes, pork and cheeses.
