The preserve is a county-run park offering public access to a four-mile loop that allows hikers, bikers, and horseback riders. A collection of rare animals also make their homes in the area: Stephens' kangaroo rat, fairy shrimp, purple stipa, blue-eyed grass, and wooley blue curls are just a few. Bird watchers will enjoy the grand hawks that live in the grasslands as well.

Do & See
Ramona was named an American Viticultural Area in 2006 and has since undergone an explosion in its wine scene. There are so many vineyards with tasting rooms, you may not be able to fit them all into one trip! When you need a break from touring wine country, check out some of Ramona's historical buildings, golf courses, and parks.
